So lovely is ice
it’s even in the word nice.
You can put it in its warm self,
especially with a slice.
One lump is cool,
or two (that means twice).
It’s hard to overdose on
and it’s reasonably priced.
It’s great for skaters,
not so much mice.
It’s low in calories
and its benefits, precise.
Fashions change, as a rule.
But ice bucks trends and has always been cool.
If you’ve got a chisel it’s easy to break it.
My hobby, for years now, is I like to make it.
The recipe’s simple, I find it a breeze.
You put it in a plastic square tray
and freeze.
Ice cubes lead short yet valient lives.
But it’s not great when it gathers on old people’s drives.

‘cause I can’t think of an ending,
so I’ll just put it on ice.
